Pre-Hospital Life-Saving Skills Vs Post Hospital Caregiver Skills

25 April 2017, Singapore: Since July 2015 after completed my Occupational First Aider (OFA) certification, my interest on "emergency life-saving" skills has always been focusing on pre-hospital life-saving skills and EHS "Preventive" skills. I attended courses like CPR-AED, BCLS, WHS (Workplace Health & Safety), CERT (Company Emergency Respond Team) and SMC (Site Main Controller). My AIM was to have the skills and knowledge equivalent to an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic.

All my perception changed after I enrolled on the course entitled "Certificate in Caregiver of Elderly and Disability". It was conducted by Singapore Caregiver Academy. The trainer is Mr. Royal Kwok, a very experience and hand-on caregiver with many years in the healthcare / caregiver industry.

Even the course is focused on home base caregiver - a lot of the caregiver skills are from hospital caregiver environment. I strongly recommend people who are interested to advance their pre-hospital life-saving skills to post-hospital caregiver skills to attend the course. It will provide you the knowledge and skills to be a better "first responder" and caregiver to your loved one.
